For those who have not yet discovered her, Maud The Moth invokes an imaginary entity through which to explore and process life experiences and in particular, uprootedness, identity and intergenerational trauma. Stylistically, Amaya‘s work draws from both his classical training and his underground background to construct eclectic songs, unfit for labels. Her cathartic live performances make use of loops, distorted pianos and effects to weave tapestries of sound driven by an enigmatic and deeply moving voice.
Her artistic vision and idiosyncratic personality have attracted numerous promoters and artistic directors among which Primavera Sound has chosen her set within the different proposals of the so-called “Primavera en la ciudad” to bring her to the legendary Sala Clamores in Madrid on June 6th. Other festivals and sessions in which she has participated include Roadburn Festival (NL), AMFest (ES), Festival Noroeste (ES), Celtic connections (UK), Noite Branca (PT), TV Nights at Ronnie Scott’s (UK), Brudenell Piano Sessions (UK) and CCCB (ES).
During the tour Amaya will perform songs from her released repertoire, as well as new material from what will be her fourth LP on which she is currently working.
Her third and, so far, latest album “Orphnē” was premiered by media such as Echoes and Dust and Louder, and received very positive reviews from Metal Hammer magazine UK, Prog, Bring the noise and Mondosonoro among others.
