Mountain Throne hail from the old lands of Wurtemberg, whereas their newest output seems to have originated from one of H.P. Lovecraft’s blood chilling fantasy stories where encounters of ordinary men and ancient entities end up in an eruption of sheer madness. And again they pull out all stops of the genre. They dare to reach that far out of their twilight comfort zone to delight us with a handsome musical hybrid of a partly Doomy mood and spirit and classic heavy metal elements of divine provenance that can easily keep up with the legends of the past 40 years. NWOBHM anybody?
To make things even more divine you won’t find a song even resemble the other but in style and ferocious performance, especially when it comes to the vocal department. All the captivating riffs and gorgeous melodies differ in each tune. Their new singer is a blast, utterly charismatic and commanding. All songs here are memorable with a spiritual depth beyond comparison taking the best elements from the pioneer years of Heavy Metal Music to create their own brand of sound. And you can easily hear that this band lives their music to the maximum.
One may be surprised to find them ripping down classic yet fresh faced anthems of pure heavy metal, but fact is, this band is on fire here. If your heart beats for the more quirky Heavy Metal such as Angel Witch for the old and The Lamp Of Thoth or their successors Arkham Witch for the new and you equally love both sides, the morbid and the epic, the heroic and the enchanting, without sticking to only slow pace, this is exactly yours.
