[News] New England’s Heavy Psych Metal behemoths When The Deadbolt Breaks release Live EP

New England’s Doom, Sludge and Heavy Psych Metal outfit When The Deadbolt Breaks, has announced the release of a “Live EP.” Recorded at the band’s show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, at JB LoveDrafts on October 30, 2021, the EP will be issued via Argonauta Records‘ Bandcamp this Friday, May 20th!

Says band mastermind, Aaron Lewis: “The songs on this live recording were recorded Halloween weekend 2022 in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. We recorded them live with a GoPro camera, and the only treatment the songs got, was a little bit of mastering in order to keep that raw feel. We wanted to release something that is representative of actually seeing When the Deadbolt Breaks live. We hope you enjoy!

The “Live EP” was mastered by Project 706 and Juno-Six, with a cover artwork designed by Lounge SevenZeroEight. The record will be available on Friday here: www.argonautarecords.bandcamp.com

Furthermore, When The Deadbolt Breaks revealed the Vinyl release date of their latest, much acclaimed album, “As Hope Valley Burns.” Released as CD and Digital formats in 2021, but due to worldwide distribution and pressing delays, “As Hope Valley Burns” will be finally released as Vinyl on July 29, 2022. The pre-sale is available via the Argonauta Records store here: https://www.argonautarecords.com/shop/

For over fifteen years, When The Deadbolt Breaks has lurked in the dark corners of underground Metal.  With a Doom style both Psychedelic and unsettling, their music has been labeled many things -heavy, daunting, overwhelming, unnerving-  while the band is singer/guitarist Aaron Lewis’s gritty vision of life on the subcultural fringes of New England society.

The Connecticut-based trio has carved a niche for themselves within the interplay of extreme genres. They are no less at home in grind than they are in pummeling sludge or ambient soundscaping, casting forth triumphant riffs or proffering murder-dirge nods at a volume level that can only be considered violent. When The Deadbolt Breaks have always struck a balance between the ugly and beauty: long compositions wade through detuned, discordant, and murky Sludge before shifting into Melodic Ambient Space Rock territories, and back again. It’s not hard to see that cinema is often what informs Lewis’s songwriting: the grueling discomfort of E. Elias Merhige or surreality of David Lynch have provided as much inspiration as his musical influences. Their sixth studio album, As Hope Valley Burns, is out now and available as CD and Digital formats, with a Vinyl release to follow on July 29th via Argonauta Records.

“This album is a unique one for When The Deadbolt Breaks. We have pushed our boundaries sonically,” Lewis reveals. “The heavy is heavier, and the mellow, spacial parts are even more so. Akin to our first few records, we have returned to more aggressive drumming, and psychedelic spaces, yet this record has a certain depth and maturity to it that was missing in the past.”
