A metaphysical journey where music comes to life and merges with reality. “Standard Monstre,” as usual for Oblomov, is not limited to being just a musical album, but comes together with a short film that reconstructs the world of the trio with surrealism. The dreamlike lyrics become images cradled by a peculiar Rock, with Art and Dark tones, with the performances of Sofia Cardarelli and Andrej Stolz skillfully captured by the direction of Andrea Roversi and Giovanni Piretti. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEuQ_yq0GWs&t=3sOblomov‘s new work, which will be released on September 23rd, 2023, moves halfway between nightmare and dream, open spaces and claustrophobia, between a rock memory and the post-dark of everyday life. “Standard Monstre” is more than a short film: it is the liberating expression of our daily anxieties transformed into a sound image. It’s not easy to compare the images and sounds of this work by Oblomov to a specific genre: Dark Wave? Electro Wave? Art Rock? Post-Prog Rock? You will be the ones to give your own definition, precisely because, first of all, you will have to feel claustrophobically free from the false agoraphobia that modern life forces us to experience.
In this work the union between images and music becomes indissoluble, so much so that it is difficult to understand whether we should favor the idea that it is a long music video or rather the soundtrack of a short film: here too, your sensitivity will give the most correct answer. Technically, and for mere convenience of distribution, we preferred to present a short film with a splendid soundtrack instead of an extended play accompanying dreamlike images. Precisely for this reason it is a pleasure to thank the directors Giovanni Piretti and Andrea Roversi, who, with the filming and editing by Simone Frabetti, created an excellent dress for the magnificent guest star Sofia Cardarelli.
