2020 was a year full of good news. After the official presentation to the media of PAARIS together with his EP, Nora, the artist managed to capture the attention of different fans of guitar and Progressive Rock on the continent. With instrumental themes and the launch of a video, the project managed to become one of the best musical premieres of the genre in the same year of its launch. Nora was featured in various recognized media such as Rolling Stone Mexico,
New Noise Magazine, Indie Hoy, Gear Gods, Marvin MX and Top Shelf Music among others. In addition to this, the news of being selected among the artists that the prestigious guitar brand Paul Reed Smith will be supporting in 2021, PAARIS consolidates a memorable start to a musical career.
“Polaris“, arrives this month to open the way to a new world of sound that we will gradually enter; Enrique comments: “This song arises from the need to want to get out of my comfort zone as a guitarist, pushing my limitations and evolution of my sound through the electric guitar… During 2020 I was experimenting with 7-string guitars and alternative tunings, and This is the result of that exploration and the endless possibilities that open up by adding an additional chord to the equation. In fact, this is the first song I compose on a 7-string guitar and in the DROP A tuning.”
The song was composed, recorded and produced by Enrique Márquez Paris (PAARIS) himself, together with the additional production of Anup Sastry, who also accompanies him on drums; Rodner Padilla is in charge of bass and Joey Izzo on keyboards and piano. It was mixed by Anup Sastry, mastered by Ryan Schwabe and the artwork is by Adrian Salas.
The video of the song was directed and edited by Carmen Moreno together with the additional camera and production of Francisco Quijada, and edited by Carlos Topo Maseda of Point Media label, the perfect complement to this personal journey that “Polaris” takes us into.
Enrique adds that: “I wanted the video to be a continuation of LUNA and that in turn open the way to this new stage and evolution in terms of sound. Therefore, I decided to follow the same concept that involves playing with lights, but that also had a relationship with the meaning of POLARIS, which is the closest star to the north pole and the brightest one visible from the earth.”
