Québec, Canada based Post-Progressive Rock project Passage have unveiled the official full stream for their sixth studio album, “L’Absence,” released on September 19 2025.
Stream “L’Absence” in full via the YouTube player below:
“L’Absence” portrays the loss of a loved one as much from the point of view of the person who has crossed over into the afterlife, alone into the unknown, as from that of those who remain powerless in the face of the imminent end. The absence sometimes weighs heavily, but often gives way over time to a nostalgia where tears coexist with acceptance and resilience.
It would be difficult to categorize Passage’s music into a single style, given the wide range of sonic textures and emotions. The music is instrumental, Avant-garde, Progressive, very soaring, sometimes filled with hope and reverie, sometimes sailing into sadder waters. “L’Absence” was composed like a film score, as one long piece of music divided into several chapters. This monolithic piece is heavily influenced by film music, with strings, piano, choirs and orchestration intermingling with traditional Rock instruments such as guitar, bass, and drums.
