It’s the August new moon and that means more music for your ears, with the release of the Dark-Side and In-Side mixes of Olive Tree.
Olive Tree is another song about connection, both how we interact with nature and the other species around us, but also a greater sensitivity to the potential for broadening human experience
‘I think part of the theme of this song and of the record really,’ says Peter, ‘is that we are part of everything as I said in i/o, but these natural worlds of non-human intelligence are out there and we haven’t yet been smart enough to understand what they’re communicating and how they communicate.’

“Another thing that is interesting, I think, is that when people try and think about the future it tends to be either dystopia and it’s all gone wrong or utopia and it seems totally unrealistic and naive. Actually, what we probably want is a sort of flexi-topia or evo-topia that is evolving and responding to the situation as it changes. That we try not to – and this is another subject on the record and probably age-appropriate – judge things in a binary form of good / bad but try to see things as part of a whole and see if there’s a way of using the combination of all that as a step up to somewhere else.“

Since our last message, we officially premiered a video for The Court which was created by Oranguerillatan. The video was part of the Peter Gabriel / Stability AI #DiffuseTogether competition that launched earlier in the year and this video took 3rd prize.
