February 14, 2025 – [North Wilkesboro, NC USA] North Carolina Doom’n’Roll band Sixyearhex is set to release a Sludgy cover of Elvis Presley’s classic hit “Heartbreak Hotel” on Valentine’s day, February 14, 2025. This special release sees the band taking a beloved classic and giving it a heavy twist.

The band’s take on the 1956 classic breathes new life into the timeless song, with Sixyearhex bringing a darker, heavier spin on the original’s melancholic themes of heartbreak. With heavy, sludge-laden riffs, deep tones, and a gripping intensity, the duo’s rendition of “Heartbreak Hotel” stands as a first-of-its-kind version, transforming the tune into a brooding, intense anthem for those with a heavy heart and a taste for sonic power.

Valentine’s Day is traditionally a time for love, but we wanted to offer something a bit different this year,” said Rob Broyhill, lead vocalist and guitarist of Sixyearhex. “We took a song that’s been around for decades and turned it into something heavier, rawer, and more emotionally charged. I always wished there was a Dax Riggs version, but with sludgy downtuned guitars. This song is a weird tip of the hat to both him and Elvis, as well as a tribute to those who’ve experienced heartbreak; but with a fresh approach.

Sixyearhex’s unique version of “Heartbreak Hotel” is a bold step in redefining what a classic can become, seamlessly blending nostalgia with a fresh and aggressive perspective. This song shows the band’s ability to blend genres and reinvent songs while remaining true to their own sound. It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for Rock fans craving something heavier and more raw than the typical love song.

The track is currently available on Bandcamp, as well as streaming on all major platforms February 14, 2025.
