Swedish Heavy Metal supergroup Dead Kosmonaut has inked a deal with Edged Circle Productions for the upcoming new album entitled “Retrospectre.” The long awaited new offering will receive its release in June. More updates as we draw nearer.
Dead Kosmonaut are one of the most vital Heavy Metal acts to emerge from Sweden in recent years. Formed by bassist and songwriter Mattias Reinholdsson, the band has grown from a solo project into a powerful unit featuring some of Sweden’s most accomplished musicians: Pelle Gustafsson (Hellbutcher, ex-Nifelheim), Fredrik Folkare (Unleashed, Firespawn), Peter Hallgren (Sorcerer), and drummer Henrik Johansson.
Their critically acclaimed releases “Expect Nothing” (2017), “Rekviem” (2019), and “Gravitas” (2020) firmly established Dead Kosmonaut as masters of a rare balance — authentic Heavy Metal rooted in the tradition of Sabbath, Priest, and Maiden, combined with Progressive structures, dynamic songwriting, and a Dark, organic sound far removed from modern plastic polish. Critics consistently highlight the band’s exceptional musicianship, memorable riffs, and epic sense of scale.
Now comes “Retrospectre” — their most ambitious work to date. A thematic album exploring memory, reflection, and hindsight, it unites weight, atmosphere, and virtuosity in equal measure. Every member contributes creatively, resulting in a record that is Heavy, Progressive, and unmistakably alive. This is Heavy Metal with depth, integrity, and longevity — built to stand the test of time.
