DRLCT is the solo project of Swiss musician Fantin Reichler (The Kompressor Experiment, Méandre). Consisting of four tracks of 10 minutes each, “Médée” is inspired by and dedicated to Fantin’s mother, who died of cancer in 2022: “On 5 September 2022, my mother died after a three-year losing battle with cancer. To cope with her brutal death, I started writing a lot of music, just to have a purpose, something to pour my meagre energy into,Fantin says.

Each track illustrates an aspect of the final ordeal of the musician’s mother: “Asunder” – a delayed, slow-burning guitar – reflects on the anger and disbelief her mother felt when she learnt that her life was over, “Un jour en Octobre” is full of nostalgia, interrupted by a dark twist representing the cancer reaching her brain, “Flow Your Tears, That Bluebird Said” – an Electronic ballad representing acceptance and longing for the end – finally “Interlinked” which describes her final painful steps towards final rest.

The album was recorded and mixed by Ludovic Volper, mastered by Christoph Noth. Artwork by joel__rgb. Graphics designed by Tomas Defago. Logo by Fantin Reichler. Photos by Morgane Raposo.
