[News] The War Yaks published the official animated video for the track “Footprints” from upcoming album

New Jersey based female fronted Experimental Progressive Rock The War Yaks published the official animated video for the track “Footprints” from upcoming album “Bifurcate” due out on August 01, 2024. Watch the video through the YouTube player below:

The War Yaks is the brain child of Nat Rusciani (vocals, keys) and Anthony Warga (saxophone), former members of Cabinets of Curiosity who, following the band’s 2020 dissolution, spent their pandemic downtime learning the dark art of music production to keep the dream alive. The result? An ideosyncratic approach to prog songwriting, with huge focus on melodies and hooks, following the principle that complexity can still be catchy, with diverse influences ranging from Rush to Opeth, Thank You Scientist, Genesis, Fiona Apple and Anathema.

A piano-first songwriting style, sophisticated harmony, pop sensibility, soulful contralto vocals, and a generous dollop of saxophone set The War Yaks apart in a landscape dominated by technical guitar riffing. Occasionally leveraging prog’s heritage for big concepts, The War Yaks tend to stick more to thoughtful, introspective lyrics about the complexities of human relationships and emotions.

The band’s first album, “Bifurcate,” set to release August 1, 2024, promises a genre-bending tour of love and loss, riffing on themes of vulnerability, passion, resistance, and resilience. Featuring Esteban Mercado (also of Dry Bones Army) on guitar, Kris Bacich on flute and Jesse Shaw (also of Mortanius) on bass, “Bifurcate” is a sonic journey through anime-inspired balladeering (Codriver), Psychedelic Jazz (Shroom Song), and growling, guttural Prog Metal (Bifurcate).

While putting the finishing touches on “Bifurcate,” The War Yaks released four singles in early 2024: “Saxtermination,” a “single” of three cover songs (synthwave takes on “Losing My Religion” by REM and “The Saddest Song” by Morphine, as well as a sax-based take on “Cockroach King” by Haken), “Aberration,” and “In Front Of Me.”
