On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the legendary album by the Lombard band, AMS Records is releasing an ultra-limited edition of 50 copies – available only via BTF, not in shops – of the 1974 Progressive masterpiece cassette, a format that has never been re-released.
Half a century after Biglietto Per L’Inferno on cassette!
The first and eponymous album of Biglietto Per L’Inferno, released in 1974, still represents one of the most significant and influential peaks in the Italian Progressive Rock scene. This extraordinary work not only won the hearts of fans of the genre, but also found and still finds appreciation among those who prefer completely different sounds to those featured on the LP’s six tracks. It is no coincidence that it is a constant presence in lists of the best Italian rock records of all time.
Every aspect of this masterpiece by the Lecco-based band, released by Trident, has become iconic and timeless, from the cover image by the visionary photographer Caesar Monti to the unique sound for the time, which mixes a vivid hard-prog approach with the characteristic melodic taste of Italian bands of the period; from the provocative and searching lyrics of the histrionic singer Claudio Canali, who later followed his spiritual vocation by retiring to a convent until his death in 2018, to the bankruptcy of the record company that marked the end of the band after only two years of career and the recording of a second album, “Il Tempo della Semina,” which remained unreleased until many years later.
Celebrating 50 years since the release of Biglietto Per L’Inferno is a must for AMS Records: in addition to the commemorative white vinyl version, AMS has released a limited run of 50 copies on cassette (only available via BTF – no shops), a format that has never been reissued since back in 1974.
