The band gave us a short interview about the single and the video, which you can find below:

Can you walk us through the making of the video—from initial idea to final edit? Any memorable moments or challenges during production?

We wanted the video to capture a feverish, slightly surreal feeling—like coming back from a long-needed vacation that ended too soon. That odd sense where everything’s a bit blurry, and you’re not quite sure what really happened or whether you actually rested at all.

The idea was loosely inspired by an old video of Salvador Dalí making a mask from foil on a bust of Archimedes (we think). We wanted something quirky and trippy, but not overly sensational. So, we decided on a few simple actions and filmed a small “fika” (a Swedish-style coffee break) in our rehearsal space.

One memorable moment was when Emil (our singer) immediately stripped down and changed clothes as his first action—though it appears last in the final video, since everything is reversed. It was hard to stay serious during filming; we kept bumping into each other and nearly falling over while trying to move backwards and act naturally at the same time.

Who did you work with (director, cinematographer, editor) on this project, and what did they bring to the table?

We kept this one completely DIY. We borrowed a camera and shot everything ourselves. The editing was minimal—just reversing the footage.

The lyrics are in Swedish—could you tell us what themes or stories they explore?

The song Sommaren (“The Summer”) explores themes of nostalgia, loss, and the passage of time. It reflects on a summer that has come and gone—not only as a season, but as a metaphor for something beautiful and fleeting. There’s a deep sense of longing in the lyrics, where warm memories are tinged with melancholy.

It speaks to how something full of life can fade, leaving behind a kind of quiet emptiness. It’s both personal and universal—about moments, people, or feelings we try to hold onto as they slowly slip away. The mood of the song mirrors the Swedish summer itself: intense, brief, and unforgettable.

How would you describe the sonorities and overall sonic landscape of the track?

Sommaren was written together during rehearsals—we jammed on it for quite some time before the structure felt right. So much of the song’s character was already formed before we even started recording.

Once we had the foundation, we began experimenting with textures and layers. The track features a traditional Swedish folk instrument called the nyckelharpa, a keyed fiddle common in old Swedish folk music. It’s played by our friend Gustaf Holmberg, who ended up contributing to much more of the album than initially planned. He was supposed to play on just one song, but the inspiration kept flowing—and suddenly, the nyckelharpa was everywhere.

Another guest is Nicke Widén, who plays pedal steel on several tracks, including this one. To evoke the feeling of a Swedish summer, we used cabasa and güiro to create a rhythm reminiscent of summer rain, and ran a noise generator through a filter to mimic the sound of a soft breeze.

And, of course—drums, bass, and electric rock’n’roll guitars hold it all together.
