Founded in 2019, Van Groover got it’s name by their rides and associated life style. What is this #Vanlife? It’s sleeping on dirty parking lots in front of deserted grocery stores, it’s about the persons you meet along the way, it’s about repairing your van way more often then you would like. It’s certainly not a beautiful cleaned up van in front of a beautiful scenery with a hot coffee waiting on the stove.
Van Groover is a soundtrack to this. 100% Stoner Rock riffage from the road, for the road.
About the new album:
Written mostly at dirty parking spaces on the highway “Back From The Shop / Back To The Shop” continues the journey that “Honk If Parts Fall Off” began. Recorded at Die Tonmeisterei in Oldenburg, Germany, Van Groover got a more mature and rusty sound, equal to their live performance. Featuring artwork form Marcelo of DoD Illustration, the recordings were split in two EPs representing the ongoing cycle every van owner is part of.
“Back From The Shop” represents the uplifting side, as the freshly repaired van rolls out of the shop, all with a little comedian wink. Rounded up by the more serious “The Grizz” themed about the decay coming with age.
“Back To The Shop” shows the dark side of living in a van. Songs like “Kolbenfresser” and “Hastings New Pot Model” hit way more close to home, not everything is pretty on the road. The more doomy final of »Big Dog« tells us that everything is going to be fine, as long as you sleep with the streetlights on.
“Back To The Shop” is released on vinyl, containing also the first EP “Back From The Shop” to make it a full all inclusive package. Accompanied with a fresh new official video to the first song “Silverback.”
