PRJ Compilation Vol. XX

The twentieth volume of the PRJ Compilation series lands as a full-throttle dispatch from the kosmische underground, five tracks deep into the Motorik pulse, the Cosmic drift, and the wired Psychedelia that have defined the German Experimental tradition — and its global offshoots — for over five decades. “Motorik Neon Flux” is not a survey. It is a live circuit.

We open with DIE ZENTRALE and “Raupe,” lifted from their freshly released album “Hundisburg” (May 2026). The Hanover outfit operates in the fault line between Post-Punk rigidity and the sprawling looseness of classic Krautrock — a tightly coiled groove that slowly sheds its skin, exactly as the title implies. Free to stream and download via their Bandcamp; the full album is an interesting discovery.

Abzug follow with “Eidottergelb,” the centrepiece of their debut EP “Kaltstart” (Aschaffenburg, May 2026). The band’s own description — “Kosmischer Kauderwelsch, Cosmic gibberish” — is the most honest press release you’ll read this year. Four tracks of kosmische synthesis that feels genuinely archival, as if unearthed from a late-’70s Mannheim session reel. “Eidottergelb” — egg-yolk yellow — glows exactly that colour: warm, viscous, hypnotic.

The midpoint belongs to SHAJARA, the solo project of Christian Goldorakhmaninov, whose debut album “Shajara #1” (March 2026) arrives tagged “Space Bled Kraut Psychedelic.” “ANNA O.C.O” is a chemical formula as much as a song title, and the music behaves accordingly — precision and volatility in unstable equilibrium. Composition, performance, mix and mastering: Goldorakhmaninov alone. The result is singular.

REGEN bring the volume’s most narrative moment with “Marauder,” a winter piece in which the listener is conscripted as witness. Blurry nights, stolen light, a figure moving through cold darkness — the Motorik engine never accelerates, never relents. It simply takes what it pleases.

We close in Indiana with Jarry Mutant — “Gentle Fear,” from “More Mutated Melodies” (April 2026). The project’s self-described “Hoosier outsider kosmische-tinged tape-psych” reaches its most focused expression here: analog synths, electric guitar, floor percussion, kalimba, delay units, and weed, all in service of something genuinely unsettling. Free download available via Bandcamp.
