Psychedelic Rock solo project Fuzz Sagrado, lead by Christian Peters (ex-Samsara Blues Experiment), return with new four-track EP, “Cold Remains,” which was released on December 02, 2024 via Electric Magic Records. Right from the first notes of opener “Snowblin” the artist shows the album’s imprintig, a mixture of heavy psych with fuzz guitars and grunge. The vocals are interesting, giving a retro touch to the sound, enveloping the listener and intertwining with the intense instrumental textures with the lead guitar. In the second part an incisive, fuzz-fueled guitars solo ends the piece. “Cold Remains” is a track that combines the retro sounds of Classic Rock with a touch of 90s Grunge. With forays into neo-Psychedelia and Krautrock, the track explores the different facets that characterise the artist’s style, engaging the listener. The choruses stick in the mind, just as the instrumental section in the finale offers an interesting lead guitar cue. The shortest track “Morphine Prayer,” is a passage with guitar arpeggios and orchestrations in the background. The vocal is warm and expressive, while the sound incorporates heavy psych, blues traits with first the vocal and then the guitar in evidence, and a deep, driving bass line that gives body to the track. It returns to heavier sounds with the closing “Neurotic Nirvana,” which is also the longest in duration, exceeding six minutes. Rough guitar riffs and a solid, elaborate rhythm section characterise the first instrumental part. As the vocal enters and the song develops, the artist incorporates elements of modern Heavy Psych to the sound, creating lysergic atmospheres through the long instrumental textures. An album that confirms the good things previously heard from this artist, with retro and modern Psychedelic Rock sounds that blend together. The artist plays all the instruments and sings, enhancing both his compositional and performing technique, offering an intense tracklist from beginning to end. A good listen that continues the artist’s musical discourse with another interesting record release.
