Human By Nature are an Alternative / Progressive Post Metal band from Finland. After a couple of singles on February 11, 2022 they released their debut album entitled “Eläimys” and containing 6 medium to long length tracks. The album opens with “Surface” an introductory track of 1:46 minutes characterized by dilated guitar sounds enriched by effects. The following “You Decompose” begins with massive guitar riffs and a solid rhythm session enriched by tempo and intensity changes, moving from heavier to more melodic parts. The vocal is dynamic and expressive, while the sounds are modern and manage well to blend Alternative and Prog traits. The alternation of vocal parts and instrumental sections is good, managing to combine the more Metal traits with the more Prog and Alternative ones with a modern touch. A guitar arpeggio opens “Rise” which develops with continuous tempo changes and a warm and expressive and at times aggressive vocal. Good the union of more modern Rock traits with a marked presence of modern Prog and personal traits, concluding the song with energy and pure Metal. “Root” is a track with dark atmospheres and granite riffs, the rhythm session is powerful and gives body to the piece, while the vocal alternates more clean parts with other aggressive ones. The sound is technical and enhances the compositional and executive skills of the band in its most Heavy aspect. With a more Alternative attitude “The Practice” is an ever-changing track, with a dirty and aggressive vocal. The guitar is at the center of the melodies between heavy riffs and openings with softer arpeggios. The tempo changes enrich the song, managing to combine all the characteristic features of the band’s sound, with a fine guitar solo in the finale. A dreamy arpeggio opens “Release” which is the final track and the longest in duration, with a sweet and full of pathos singing. The first half of the piece runs soft and with more melodic features, and then with a change it becomes more Heavy in the second part. In my opinion the most progressive of the album, with a fine crescendo ending. Overall a pleasant listening, which manages to combine Alternative, modern Prog and some more Metal passages and the personal sound of the band. Good dynamic and expressive vocal parts that adapt to the various situations of the disc, the sound is solid and is enriched by tempo changes and good variations. A listening recommended for lovers of modern Prog, more hybrid and mixed with Alternative and Post Rock sounds.
