Jhufus is a band originally from Madrid, Spain active since 2019 that offers Psychedelic Rock sounds with Stoner and Heavy influences. They released “The Call Of The Monolith EP” on January 11, 2022 containing 4 tracks ranging from 5 to over 7 minutes in length. The opener “The gathering” is the longest track on the album exceeding 7 minutes in duration, which begins slowly with atmospheric and enveloping sounds. With the intensity that increases with the passage of the song that after 2 minutes with a change inserts distorted guitars and the sound acquires power. With continuous changes of tempo and guitar solo inserts it is placed within the Neo Psychedelia with some references by Stoner, immediately immersing us in the atmosphere of the album. “Relief” begins again with atmospheric sounds that increase in intensity until the middle of the song when the band unleashes all its energy with granite guitar riffs. The drum is solid and at times accelerates, while the intertwining of the melodies are hypnotic and capture the listener bringing him into their sound world. The shortest track of the album “Farewell” which still exceeds 5 minutes, opens with a deep bass and lysergic sound effects creating a hypnotic atmosphere. The band is able to use the effects, with the track evolving increasing the intensity more and more until it leads to scratchy guitar riffs and solo inserts enriched by the effects. The EP ends with the title track “The call of the Monolith” which begins with a slow pressing of drums and effects in the background, resulting in the most acidic and Pychedelic section of the disc. With softer but more intricate and enveloping sounds with a good use of the effects, this track closes leaving the listener pleasantly immersed and enveloped in the sound of the band. An entirely instrumental album where the band offers Psychedelic tracks full of effects that envelop the listener making him travel among the lysergic sounds of the band. A listening recommended for lovers of modern Psychedelic Rock sounds with some heavier passages close to the Stoner, slow rhythms with crescendo changes and elaborate textures.
