Kungens Män is a band from Stockholm in Sweden, born in 2012 and which offers a mixture of genres and styles attributable to Psychedelia and Krautrock with forays into Space Rock and improvisation. They are a very prolific group, having released numerous albums, the most recent being “Kungens Ljud & Bild” released on May 06, 2022 via Centripetal Force/Kungens Ljud & Bild. It contains 4 long-running tracks, including an epic of over 15 and another 2 over 10 minutes, in which they range between Space and Kraut with a Psychedelic approach and a light Drone touch. The album opens with the more Hravy riffs of “När piskan viner” with a runaway rhythm session, as the sounds continuously stratify and evolve. The intensity increases with the passage of the song, which in the central part offers an interesting lead guitar solo evolving with distorted and acid sounds. In the second part the ride that leads us to the finale continues with a crescendo of finely intertwined modulations and sounds. The epic track “Stora rummet” which lasts over 15 minutes opens with guitar weaves and a rhythm that moves slowly and evolving with the passing of the minutes. The sounds are inserted and modeled, enveloping the listener with a lysergic atmosphere that guides us in this long Psychedelic journey full of distorted sound effects and modulations. “I Hjalles kök” begins with a solid Space Rock style rhythm with a dark vocal background, while the sounds envelop the listener. The vocal and the sounds create a musical crescendo with the passage of the song, with hypnotic bass lines and an atmosphere that brings us back to the Space sounds of the 70s. The album ends with “Vaska lyckokaka” with a deep hypnotic bass line and good guitar work on solid drumming. The Space sounds mix with the Kraut, and a Psychedelic touch creating a musical crescendo of good quality where the sounds evolve and stratify continuously. An album that mixes different genres and styles with a Space Rock imprinting that sometimes evolves into Psychedelia and Krautrock, with a fine modulation of the sounds. A band that continues the musical discourse undertaken in previous works, proposing a pleasant disc with long elaborate instrumental plots. A listening recommended for lovers of the more Psychedelic sounds of Space Rock, the band able to bring the atmosphere of the 70s to the present day.
