[Review] Lobobros – Disposable Music and Collectible Razors

Labobros is the project of the duo Pietro and Giuseppe Labonia, which offers a mixture of multiple genres and styles, with insights into Pop, R&B, Prog Rock and much more. The new and second album “Disposable Music and Collectible Razors” was released on December 20, 2021 and contains 13 tracks. So many collaborations from every part of the world like: Cesareo (Elio e le Storie Tese), Paolo Tofani (Area International Group), Mourad Musset (La Rue Ketanou), Jinian Wilde (David Cross Band), Peter Lacey, Jade Marie, Pasquale Nigro, Alfonso Sacchetti, Benigno Grillo, Roberto De Rosis, Natale Novellis, Serafino Zangaro, Vero Luz, Joe Figg, Gabriele Vignati. The album is very varied, and each track explores different musical genres and territories, thanks also to the guests who come from different artistic realities. It opens with a softer and more song-like track “Collectible Razors” with the feat. vocal of Jade Marie and the delicate interpretation of her. The following “Camel” is a good piece of Symphonic Prog with the organ in evidence and the support of Alfonso Sacchetti. Then there is a reference to the ugly pandemic period we are going through “Modern Virus,” an intense and touching track, reminiscent of the more acoustic Folk Prog sounds. Cesareo from Elio E Le Storie Tese collaborates in “Harmonious Lines” which adds valuable guitar inserts to a rhythmic session halfway between electronics and percussion, very interesting. For lovers of Italian Prog Paolo Tofani from Area participates in the track “Percezione Tofaniana” an Ethnic track with an ending with a beautiful vocal narration. “Tramonto Giapponese” is a passage where we find a bit of experimentation and a mixture of acoustic textures and orchestrations that are mixed with a good vocal. Of a more Folk matrix with Ethnic traits “Crocodile Mural” sees the participation of Mourad Musset, also here the more traditional plots are mixed with a touch of experimentation. Pasquale Nigro collaborates in two tracks the first “Bruma De Jacarandá” is a short passage of almost 2 minutes with the accordion. The second “Bondiola Y Choritango” always with the accordion and the guitar intertwined brings us to mind in the Argentinian Pampas, a very refined and intense Tango with a beautiful vocal in Spanish. Jinian Wilde participates in “Egg Fields” a piece with fine guitar arpeggios that increases in intensity with the passing of the minutes and inserting the keyboards in the central part. “Queijo Do Ma” follows the sounds of Brazilian music with guitar and percussion and a layered vocal that takes us to Rio de Janeiro for 7 minutes. “Toss The Dice” feat. Peter Lacey mixes Beatles traits with Prog inserts especially in the keyboards, taking us back to the past to the early 70s. The album “Disposable Music” closes with a mix of guitar arpeggios and orchestrations that leaves us with good sensations and the desire to listen to this record again. An original listening full of ideas and ideas, a journey through music without borders or gender barriers. Each guest brings their own style and personal background, creating an album that experiments on several fronts the various facets of both modern and folk music. A recommended and very intense listening that given the presence of various genres and styles can be appreciated by an audience not only Prog.
