[Review] Mamvth – The Fog

Mamvth is a band originally from Madrid in Spain born in 2016 and with an EP with demos of the first recordings and a Full-Length. Titled “The Fog” released on January 10, 2022 it contains 10 medium length tracks including Hard Rock, Stoner and Psychedelia with lyrics in English. The opener “Show me the Way” begins with granite guitar riffs, deep and leading bass lines and a massive rhythmic session on which an energetic and dynamic vocal is inserted. The guitar is rotagonist with both catchy riuff and a good solo in the second part. “The Hunter” is characterized by powerful riffs and an elaborate structure, with the vocal full of energy, a real added value in the sound of the band. Between tempo changes and accelerations the band is skilled in mixing Hard Rock and modern Psychedelia creating an engaging and very intense sound. “Part of Me” is characterized by continuous tempo changes and excellent vocal performance, a winning blend of Stoner traits and more Rock passages. An intense guitar solo in the second part is at the center of the instrumental section, with the intensity increasing, to then return to the vocals and close with the last verses. Biting guitar riffs and a solid rhythmic session open “Wilma’s Song” a track with a more Stoner atmosphere, with that personal touch that distinguishes the band. The vocal with the flow of the record confirms the enormous qualities and the dynamism and extension, resulting more and more at the center of the project. The second part accelerates with engaging riffs and solos, showing all the musicians’ technique with intense musical intertwining. “Fire” starts off strong with a tight and catchy riff rhythmic and fine workmanship, while the vocals add energy to the track with choruses that remain in the mind. A track that immediately catches on and strikes for the dynamism that the band has and the ability to accelerate and involve the listener. In the instrumental section the bass and the guitar duet while the drum marks the time with its rolls. “B.L.U.” it is slower, more intense with fine riffs and guitar inserts on which the always very energetic and expressive vocal shows all its value. Another great passage that keeps the intensity very high and continues to lull the listener enraptured by the sounds of the band. with a more Rock vibe and a hypnotic bassline “The Wrong Side” is a rhythmic track with engaging melodies and a more linear rhythm. The guitar as in every song delights us with a good solo and the journey continues by exploring all the facets of the band’s sound. Another rhythmic and engaging song that takes us back to the past “Back for More” which develops with refined plots and the guitar as protagonist. The rhythmic session is constantly changing with high level tempo changes, solid and energetic and the vocal as always is an added value. Closes the album “Your Home” which follows the sounds of the previous track, with a touch of power and additional distortions, but always very rhythmic and engaging. Between tempo changes and stratified voices, a good scratchy solo, the track pleasantly closes this good record. A band that offered a very intense, energetic debut that combines the modern traits of Rock with references to the past, mixed with a personal touch. The singer offers a dynamic and intense performance, interpreting all the phases of the album with confidence and energy. A recommended listening to all lovers of Rock sounds, a band that certainly does and will talk about itself in a positive way now and in the future. Finally a no-nonsense record that offers solid and well-developed music, with good technique and lots of character and personality.
