Manongo Mujica is a Peruvian percussionist, composer and visual artist, pioneer of Experimental sounds in South America. The new album “Del Cuarto Rojo” was released on April 29, 2022 via Buh Records and contains 10 medium length tracks that mix various genres and styles. An album with highly sought-after and mainly Experimental sounds, where the artists involved modulate the sounds with high-level effects and technique. Enriched by Manongo’s percussion and strings, with forays into free Jazz and Drone, it shows how after 50 years the artist still loves to search for elaborate sounds and explore unique musical territories. An intertwining of soundscapes and percussion to which the cello and the violin are added to create an original and avant-garde sound ensemble. An album that at first listen could be difficult and complicated, but which contains within it ideas of quality developed with technique and an excellent use of instrumentation. The percussion is very present, without being intrusive but becoming complementary to the other sounds present in the tracks. Long exclusively instrumental plots where an attentive ear will surely find very refined and particular sounds and modulations. A sound with a very precise imprinting that confirms how this artist is one of the pillars of Experimental music in South America, raising the flag of his country in the musical world. A listening recommended to all lovers of experimentation and albums where the search for new sounds is at the center of the project. Anyone who knows Manongo’s music knows how interesting his musical research is, which explores very wide territories of Experimental music in particular.
