Tidejord is a Danish band offering a blend of Progressive Rock and Doom, with a full-length and an EP to their credit. The new EP entitled “Væsen” was released on January 07, 2025 and contains four full-length tracks, ranging from over 4 to over 6 minutes. Opener “Skyggemennesket” immediately immerses us in the band’s sound, weaving Progressive Rock and Doom with a dynamic and expressive vocal. The intensity increases as the minutes go by, incorporating heavy elements to the sound, both in the instrumental parts and in the vocals, which become more aggressive. Thoughtful guitar riffs and a solid rhythm section full of tempo changes develop this good opening track, exploring the different facets that characterise the band’s style. The band explores more metal sounds in “Dødt Træ,” a powerful track steeped in doom sounds, gloomy atmospheres and thought-provoking riffs with a granitic rhythm section. The vocals alternate between aggressive and softer passages, always with that dark touch that also characterises the sound. In a continuous interweaving of vocal and instrumental parts, between heavier passages and more dilated openings, the track flows, enveloping the listener and leading him to explore the dark sounds of the band. The album’s shortest track “Rumskrot” opens with a sombre guitar riff and a monolithic rhythm section. Fresh and modern doom metal to which is added the expressive Danish vocals, which add a restless touch to the sound, interpreting the lyrics with pathos. Between Progressive Metal and Doom, the track shows modern influences in line with new trends in both genres, mixed and proposed with the band’s personal touch. The EP ends with “Opdrift,” the longest track exceeding six minutes in duration. The track opens with powerful Prog Metal imprinted riffs, a solid and elaborate rhythm section and a dynamic vocal, offering modern sounds more Prog than Doom. As the song evolves, the band incorporates elements of the different genres that characterise their personal style, leaving us wanting to listen to this work again in the future. A good work that combines elements of Progressive and Doom Metal, with a personal touch. This EP shows a mature, solid and elaborate sound, confirming the good things heard in the debut and enhancing the band’s compositional and performing technique. A recommended listen for all lovers of Progresive Metal and Doom sounds, crenaod a good marriage between the two genres thanks to a solid and elaborate sound.
