Durham, North Carolina based Progressive Heavy Psych/Doom power trio Voidward, return with a new mini-album. Titled “Occult Symmetry,” it was released on February 22, 2025 via Clearly Records and contains two tracks over four minutes long. Solid guitar riffs open “Light Rider,” a single also featuring a Psychedelic video. The sound is solid, enriched by tempo changes, with dynamic vocals alternating with punchy instrumental sections. In the second part a solo highlights the guitar, before returning to the vocals and concluding. The second and last track on this mini-disc, “Dark Miracle,” is a heavier track than the previous one, exploring more Stoner/Doom sounds. The track is enriched by tempo changes with accelerations in the drums, while the guitar offers a prolonged and virtuoso solo insert that leads us to the finale, which ends with the last verse. Two well-constructed tracks, confirming the good things previously heard from this band. The sound is granitic, with vocals and instrumental sections intertwining, incorporating elements of Heavy Psych, Stoner and Doom, enhancing their personal style.
