Yggdrasil was a band originally from Munich in Germany that had a short history, born in 1970 and then solmanently in 1972. The genre proposed by the band is a Krautrock with flute and violin, but without keyboards with medium length tracks. During their short period of activity they recorded some demos which unfortunately did not allow them to publish a full-length at the time. Remained in a drawer for many years their only album was released for Garden Of Delight only in 2009 on CD and in 2019 on LP. This release was possible thanks to 10 copies of the metal acetate printed at the time, the tracks were recorded in the Robert Meilhaus Studio. Another detail is that these 10 copies have never circulated among collectors, making this band and this album a real gem. Fortunately, only one copy of the original master tape print has reached our days and has allowed the release of this album. Yggdrasil named themselves after the world ash or yew tree of the Germanic tribes and played Progressive Rock of a calmer nature, with flute, violin, and English lyrics. Although it was only reissued in 2009 and 2019, the CD version is available at affordable prices. The band in its period of activity had a live activity mainly in pubs and some school concerts, and then re-recorded some tracks at the Bavaria Studio, which got lost in time due to an unacceptable sound. In 1971 Fischer left the band for a year and a half, so Uli Kellner joined Yggdrasil on guitar and bass and this line-up recorded some tracks for an upcoming album at Meilhaus Studio in 1972. low financial resources and this was the reason why it never passed the pre-publication phase. We don’t know what happened to the 10 copies that resulted from this embryonic stage of production, but fortunately Garden Of Delight managed to release the album directly from the master tape owned by Walter Waidosch. The album is pleasant, with a softer style than the Krautrock prog, embellished by the violin and the flute.
