Eternidad is an Argentinian band that was active for only one year and released only one album entitled “Apertura” in 1977, which is now very rare and sought after. 1977 was the year of this band, which saw the album reissued in 1998 and only in Argentina, and then in 2022 it was remastered in Japan, Germany and also at home. Despite their short career, this quintet managed to release an extremely delicate work with great attention to detail, which unfortunately went completely unnoticed. Contrary to what was already happening musically in Argentina, the group produced an album with Folk Rock/Symphonic Prog characteristics (with references to UK bands Yes above all) that can be compared to fellow countrymen Sui Generis, Espritu, Ave Rock, Alas and Aquelarre among others. The original version of the album is difficult to find, with the exception of more recent reissues, which have allowed Prog music lovers to rediscover the band. Musically, the work is very refined, presenting a mixture of Folk Rock and Prog with quality ideas, enhancing both the compositional and performing technique of the band. Both at the time and in recent times, the album and the band would certainly have deserved better luck given the quality of the compositions contained within it. I hope that the 2022 reissue and this article will allow people to discover or rediscover this gem of Argentine and South American music, an excellent listen for all lovers of Prog sounds with Folk influences. The band rightfully becomes part of this editorial of ours on hidden rarities, both for the difficult availability of the original version and for the quality of the music it contains.
