International Experimental Jazz Rock act Benoît Martiny Band shared a new music video to celebrate the new release “BMB Live in Germany,” out on June 20, 2025 via Badass Yogi Productions on CD, LP and Digital. Watch the video via the YouTube player below:
In 2025, Benoit Martiny Band hits 20 years of wrecking stages and flipping the script on what Jazz Rock’s supposed to sound like. No industry polish, no fake nostalgia — just fire.
To celebrate, the band is dropping an all killer, no filler live album, straight from the chaos of their last German tour in 2024. Loud, raw, and unapologetically BMB. This is limited to 200 copies signed by the band, this fan-only LP is a rare beast — the perfect live album to celebrate 20 years of a band at the height of its madness.
— Biographical Information —
The Benoît Martiny Band, also known by their fans as the “Mighty BMB,” is an institution. For two decades, they have demonstrated constant creative independence, performing all over the world — from Japan to South America, from smoky bars to some of the most prestigious festivals. The band consists of Luxembourgish drummer Benoît Martiny, Hungarian bassist Sandor Kem, and Dutch musicians Jasper van Damme and Joao Driessen on saxophones, with Frank Jonas on guitar. Their music, composed by Martiny, is inspired by Jazz, Rock, Free Jazz, and Psychedelia,
drawing influence from artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Charles Mingus, Frank Zappa, and King Crimson, among others.
Over the years, BMB has released seven albums and two DVDs. The band was nominated for the Dutch Jazz Competition in 2005 and won the Amersfoort Jazz Talent Award in 2008. In addition to touring across Europe, they have performed at concerts and festivals in South America, Japan, and the Middle East. BMB has also collaborated with a diverse range of musicians, including Michel Pilz, Mark Lotterman, Itaru Oki, and Steve Kaspar. In that same collaborative spirit, they launched “The Grand Cosmic Journey” in 2014, a special project created for the “Like a Jazz Machine” festival in Dudelange. “The Grand Cosmic Journey” features a rotating cast of guest musicians, and the concept was continued in a sold-out concert at Luxembourg’s Philharmonie in 2019 — an eclectic performance enhanced by VJing and free improvisation. The concert was recorded and released as an album titled “Moons of Uranus” in 2020. The album received numerous positive reviews from magazines such as Eclipsed (D), Mint (D), Sticks (D), Tageblatt (Lux), Le Soir (B), Jazzthing (D), Slagwerkkrant (NL), and Jazz Journal (UK).
To celebrate their 20th anniversary, the band is releasing a live album entitled “Live in Germany” — an all killer, no filler record that captures the band exactly as they sound today!
