The fourth record in the band’s discography — following “The Origin of Suffering” (2022), “Beyond the Light” (2021), and the debut “In the Beginning… Was the Emotion” (2016) — “A Dream of Hell” was born out of necessity rather than design. As the band themselves put it: “This album was never planned, never scheduled, never forecasted. It emerged from constraint, urgency, and instinct.” A creative act of defiance against circumstance, the record carries an honesty and rawness that pre-meditated projects rarely achieve.

What makes “A Dream of Hell” particularly compelling within the progressive canon is its literary architecture. Each of the four compositions draws on the work of poets separated by centuries yet united by their capacity for the sublime and the uncanny. “Hell” sets Thomas MacDonagh’s haunting 1916 verse — a dreamscape of silent damnation, void of flame but full of weight — against a sprawling 13-minute musical foundation. “Eternity” is an original lyrical piece touched by what the band describe as “astral inspiration”, a five-minute journey through cosmic time. “Laeta” gives voice to a lesser-known elegiac poem by H.P. Lovecraft, a tender and mournful vision of loss wrapped in pastoral imagery; nine minutes of lush, melancholic prog. Closing the album, “Tyger” takes on none other than William Blake — the tiger burning bright in the forests of the night — across an 11-minute finale that channels mythic energy and primal force into a prog-rock crucible.

Recorded and mixed by Sandro Enciso, mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima at Tower Studio, with striking cover art by Daniela Owergoor, the album has all the hallmarks of a fully realized artistic statement — even if it arrived unannounced.

“A Dream of Hell is not the album we planned. It’s the one that found us.”
