Released in 1972 on bacillus records, “Getting Up For The Morning” marks a transitional phase in the development of the Swiss band Krokodil. Following their earlier, more overtly Psychedelic work, the album reflects a shift towards a more structured and song-oriented approach while retaining elements of Progressive Rock and Blues.

The recordings were produced in collaboration with Peter Hauke and tracked at the studio of Dieter Dierks in Cologne-Stommeln, a location closely associated with numerous German Rock productions of the period.

Across its seven tracks, the album combines Blues-based structures with Psychedelic and Progressive elements, incorporating harmonica, flute, electric piano and layered guitar work. The material moves between relaxed, groove-oriented passages and more extended instrumental sections, reflecting both Anglo-American influences and the emerging independent direction of European Rock at the beginning of the 1970s.

Compared to the band’s earlier releases, “Getting Up For The Morning” presents a more concise compositional approach, while maintaining the characteristic interplay between acoustic and electric instrumentation.

Originally issued on vinyl in 1972, the album documents a later stage in the band’s evolution before their final recordings for the label.

This release is part of the Bacillus Records archive on Bandcamp.
