Italian Progressive Metal band Mindlight unveil the official lyric video for the track “Hyperactivity” taken from upcoming album “N.A.M.I.” due out on November 24, 2023 via Elevate Records. Watch the video through the YouTube player below:
Mindlight‘s history began in the early 2000s with ex-Piramis Aurum Roberto Vernazza (rhythm guitar), Martino Bolla (keyboards) and Neil Carlevaro (bass), who were soon joined by Giulio Smeragliuolo (lead guitar); from this nucleus came the first unreleased instrumental compositions, with marked progressive metal traits, which would merge into the band’s first self-produced demo.
After the first concerts held with the aid of a drum machine, in 2009 drummer Simone Gazzera joined the line-up, and with this increase in personnel, the band’s live activity began to intensify.
After three years, Mindlight became a sextet thanks to the entry of singer Davide Garbarino; having a stable line-up by now, the band enriched its repertoire with new songs, for the first time accompanied by a lead vocalist.
In the following years, the Savona-based band took part as an opening act in concerts in Liguria of some important bands of the national scene such as Vision Divine, Deathless Legacy and Lucky Bastardz, as well as attending the first “261 Metal Fest” in 2015, which featured the famous Angra as headliners.
After a period of slowing down, Mindlight reunited in the rehearsal room with a novelty: after a decade of militancy, drummer Simone Gazzera decided to leave the band and the place behind the skins was taken by Luca Grosso, ex-drummer of the historic Savona Power Metal band Projecto and a session player for many important names in the Italian and international Progressive scene.
With this line-up, the Ligurian band began recording their first album, “N.A.M.I.“
In addition to their activities with their main band, the various members of Mindlight are also involved in various parallel projects: Giulio participates in the Chaos Venture project of former Labyrinth keyboardist Andrea De Paoli and records guitars for the album of Progressive Rock band from Savona Nathan entitled “Uomini di Sabbia” he is also a member of DRK, a Genoese Metal band, author in 2019 of the first full-length entitled “Layers” and published by Nadir Music/Believe Digital.
Davide, who in addition to singing is a keyboard player and teacher in various Ligurian schools, collaborates in the studio and live with musicians such as Stef Burns (Vasco Rossi), Omar Pedrini (ex-Timoria), Wild Steel (Shadows of Steel), Olaf Thorsen (Labyrinth/Vision Divine) and Fabio Lione (Angra).
Luca is the creator and leader of the Neo Prog band The Ikan Method, whose first work “Blue Sun” was released in 2020. Davide, already featured on the debut album, and Giulio, who joined the band in the last year, are also part of the band.
Roberto and Neil lent their services to Projecto for a historic reunion concert at the 2013 edition of “Hard Castle Fest.”
