Warsaw, Poland based Psychedelic/Progressive Stoner Doomsters Sunnata published the official visualizer for the second single “Chimera” taken from their new album “Chasing Shadows” out on May 10, 2024. Watch the video through the YouTube player below:
“Chimera” video is an edited version of experimental animation “Omega” from 1970, directed by Donald Fox and distributed by Pyramid Films.
“Omega” deals with the end of mankind on earth, prophesying man’s liberation from his earthly bounds to roam the universe at will. By sending an “energy ray” to the sun and harnessing its solar power, man is able to make an evolutionary leap. The film can be used to explore the outer limits of the concepts of death, evolution, the after life and the future of mankind. A visual experience to inspire young filmmakers.
Music-wise, “Chimera” manifests the presence of duality across the entire universe. The idea to present a hybrid creature as the main topic came after having listened to the song’s composition that contains a bizarre mix of many genres and ideas, glued together, that forms a very compelling passage. “Chimera” is an amalgamation, binding those pieces together to form a single entity.
The song’s lyrics bind many paradoxes together, posing them as something inherent to reality. The very early dreamy recall of hinduistic Maya sets the tone of the piece – an ever-evolving appearance, an ever-changing shape of reality.
The main point of navigating through a dynamic, fluctuating reality is to come to an understanding that this is the only constant assumption of it. The cycle of life – the one who comes from the horizon and goes away – is prevalent like an imperative. Those who try to deny it and shape the world to their individual needs are fighting for the cause that is unreachable.
The evolution binds units together but also sets them apart. Paradoxes are part of our reality. Only the one, who is born and dead at the same time, prevails.
Sunnata is expanding the spectrum with their most complex record to date, exploring both: the most extreme and the most subtle incarnations, and everything in between. Mind-altering doomscapes painted with everlasting, captivating stories.
