PRJ Vol XXII

We are proud to present the twenty-second chapter of our curated compilation series: PRJ Compilation Vol. XXII. Following the path carved by previous volumes, this edition descends into the heaviest and most suffocating corridors of the international underground, bringing together five artists united by a singular gravitational force — where Doom, Heavy Prog, and Post-Metal collapse into dense, slow-burning weight.

In this edition, we take you from Valencia to Cambridge, through Buenos Aires, the United Kingdom, and Gornja Radgona, offering a global cross-section of what the Doom/Heavy Psych-Prog/Post-Metal underground has to offer today.

The Artists of Volume XXI

01. Cavrvm (Valencia, Spain)Creo Coberta Fuzz

Cavrvm is a one man band from Spain that explores dark music in a constant quest for experimentation. This can take it into psychedelic, progressive, doom, and shoegaze territories, and even into spaghetti western music or post punk textures.

02. Oceanrise (Cambridge, UK) – Earthbound

As a trio of self proclaimed sci-fi and fantasy fans, we wanted to produce an album of music that fully embodied our love for epic journeys, whether it be over continents or through space and time. Earthbound is a track we feel fits that brief, entwining our powerful, driving sound as a 3 piece with synthesisers and spoken word to produce a song about returning to Earth after a long, interstellar voyage.

03. Agua Oscura (Buenos Aires, Argentina) – Irreversible

Out of Buenos Aires, Agua Oscura bring a Southern Hemisphere weight to the Sludge and Post-Metal conversation. “Irreversible” is exactly what the title suggests — once it pulls you in, there is no way back. Alternative metal edges, doom undertones, and a relentless emotional pressure make this one of the most compelling tracks in the volume.

04. AHREMAN (England) – Ancient Lights

Hailing from the United Kingdom, AHREMAN deal in the kind of Doom and Progressive Post-Metal that moves like tectonic plates — slow, inevitable, and crushing. “Ancient Lights,” taken from We Cherish The Fallen, is a monument of progressive heaviness, where post-metal density meets a dark, ceremonial atmosphere. Essential listening for those who worship at the altar of Heavy.

05. AYD (Gornja Radgona, Slovenia) – The Giant

Wrapped in a veil of dark psychedelia: as loud as possible, as low as possible, as dirty as possible! We are talking about the three-headed heavyweight sound monster, the Styrian AYD. The guys have been active on the Slovenian music scene for many years, yet their common desire to create dirty, greasy, loud, low and screaming music brought them together in 2020 in the drummer’s legendary jam-house near Sveta Ana in Slovenske gorice. The idea took hold and quickly gave birth to a sonic compost of sludge, which is constantly caressed with doom rhythms and post-metal ambiances. The sinister trio now creatively resides in the underground shafts of Gornja Radgona.

Compilation curated and edited by Jacopo Vigezzi (PRJ). Visuals and video by Jacopo Vigezzi (PRJ).
