Haven Of Echoes is the new project by Paul Sadler of Spires and Andreas Hack of Frequency Drift, offering sophisticated and emotional Progressive Rock sounds. The debut album “The Indifferent Stars” was released on October 07, 2022 and contains six long tracks with elaborate textures. The album opens with “Sirensong,” which combines Cinematic traits with Prog Rock, solid and energetic with a Dark touch. The vocals are emotional and expressive and interpret the intense lyrics of the song with pathos. The tempo changes are an added value to the sound, as are the interlacing of female and male vocals. It goes from more heavy moments to symphonic openings, showing the wide range of sounds and styles that make up the band’s sound. The album’s shortest track “The Orator’s Gift” features a crescendoing intro that explodes into a song with refined guitar and keyboard interlacing. the bass lines are deep and load-bearing and complement an elaborate drumming with a solid rhythm section. The singing is very intense with fine duets of male and female vocals with operatic traits. In the finale, the track shows a more Ambient facet of the band’s sound, enriched by soundscapes and effects on a percussion base. “Stasis” opens with the gentle notes of piano and orchestrations over which emotional vocals are inserted. For most of the song, the band explores the more Cinematic and Ambient side of their sonic repertoire, culminating in the finale in an elaborate Prog section that ends the track on a crescendo. A hypnotic synth melody opens “Endtime” developed with an elaborate rhythm section and keyboard background. Tempo changes enrich the song’s structure, the vocals once again display the enormous talents and excellent intertwining of male and female vocals. In the middle part a section somewhere between Symphonic and Ambient, with a delicate and dreamy sound with the piano in evidence. in a sonic crescendo the band returns to the initial theme of the song to conclude this excellent track. “The Lord Giveth…” is characterised by a long intro with more Experimental sounds to which is added a warm and expressive male vocal. Cinematic atmospheres combine with Prog, with the entrance of the female vocals and developing the track by increasing the intensity. An Avant-Garde track, refined and with a sound that in the various changes explores new and original sounds, concluding in a pompous crescendo. The longest track in duration ‘Let Them In’ concludes the album, characterised from the start by a very elaborate sound. The rhythm section is intricate, the guitar adds a heavy touch in the riffs, while the vocals are intense and emotional. More Heavy passages alternate with Symphonic openings, giving a distinctly Prog touch to the song, passing from more Rock moments to others almost Metal, passing through some more delicate sections. An epic track that shows all the technique both compositional and executive of the band, resulting engaging from beginning to end and intensely closing this excellent listening. A very refined album that combines different genres and styles from Progressive with Cinematic traits to Ambient passages passing through Art Rock and a touch of Dark, all united by the band’s original personal touch. A recommended listen for lovers of Prog sounds with Cinematic overtones and more modern traits. Enriched by very refined and sophisticated vocal and instrumental plots.
