Ok Wait is a new German band formed by members of Sonic Black Holes, Rodha and Barrels, offering Post-Rock sounds with different influences including Metal, Noise and Progressive Rock. The debut album “Well” was released on April 01, 2022 via Golden Antenna records and contains 5 long-running tracks including a 15 minute epic. The album opens with the 15+ minute epic track “Wait” featuring a solid rhythm session and good guitar textures. The bass lines are deep and driving, while the intertwining between the guitars creates enveloping melodies, with the sound that moves within the Post-Rock with Prog traits. A track that develops with long instrumental textures, mainly centered on guitar weaves, alternating softer passages with harder ones. In the second part the atmospheres are darker and the sounds more dilated, favoring more the more Post-Rock aspect of their sound. The following “Blow” alternates harder passages closer to Post-Metal with Noise traits, with heavy guitar riffs and a monolithic rhythm session. Good intertwining between the two guitars, with the atmosphere that continues on the dark tones of the previous one, with atmospheric openings with dilated sounds. A dreamy guitar arpeggio opens “Time” to which the drumming rolls are added. After a long intro, it moves slowly with a delicate rhythm session and a good duet between the guitars, alternating heavier parts with atmospheric openings. The evolution of the guitar melodies characterizes the piece, which flows pleasantly throughout its duration, enriched by the tempo changes that create a winning blend of multiple genres and styles. “Dust” is characterized by a rhythmic session that moves slowly, while the guitars play and duet creating dilated and atmospheric sounds. The band explores the more melodic boundaries of Post-Rock, with forays into Prog and enhancing their own personal traits. The song has a long duration, exceeding 12 minutes, allowing him to better develop the theme of the track and mix all the genres that characterize them. The album ends with “Cope” which returns to the darkest sounds, with fine layering and intertwining between the guitars and an elaborate and solid rhythmic session. The intensity increases with the passing of the minutes, evolving the guitar sounds that become harder and with Noise traits. A good ending that concludes the musical discourse undertaken in the previous tracks. A good debut for this band which is made up of experienced musicians, adept at creating long intense instrumental textures with good guitar weaves and layering. The rhythm session is solid with a drumming that alternates slower parts to more energetic ones, with deep and carrying bass lines. A successful blend of Post-Rock, Prog and Post-Metal to which the personal traits of the band are added, creating long intense and elaborate tracks. A listening recommended for lovers of Post-modern sounds, with long instrumental plots focused on good works and intertwining between the two guitars.
