Papir is a Danish Psychedelic Rock band that continues their exploration and sonic evolution started on previous albums. The new full-length “7” was released on January 14, 2022 via Stickman Records and contains 4 long-running tracks, including the epic opening of over 19 minutes. The sounds proposed here return to a more delicate style with long phrasing, dilated atmospheres and as the artwork recalls in a certain sense aquatic. The opening track “7.1” is an epic lasting over 19 minutes, carrying on the album and with very dilated and ethereal sounds, more delicate and enveloping and full of effects. A continuous evolution of guitar sounds on a soft rhythm session, to which a synth is added while the sounds continue to evolve and stratify. A track that mixes Psychedelia, Kraut and Post Rock with soft and dreamy atmospheres that envelop the listener as if they gently cuddle us for 19 minutes. “7.2” is more rhythmic with a load-bearing and hypnotic bass line, with the guitar that intertwines and stratifies giving us pleasant sensations. In the central part there are always very delicate orchestrations and the track flows with ease, continuing in the melodic intertwining. A more Ambient track with an almost meditation sound “7.3” has no rhythmic session and is characterized by the layering of keyboard melodies. Sounds very dilated and rich in effects and with a slow pace. Concludes the album “7.4” characterized by a rhythmic drumming on the toms, ethereal guitar sounds that combine a soft Post Rock to the Ambient. Ending with a delicate orchestral carpet on which the sweet layered guitar solos are inserted. A thoughtful, soft and dreamy album that has the backbone of the disc in the first track, even if the other 3 tracks are well made. A listening recommended for lovers of sounds halfway between the softer Post Rock and the Kraut, with dilated sounds and Ambient atmospheres.
