Dear readers, we are pleased to offer you in this article an interview with a Polish Post-Rock duo. We welcome Oudeziel.

Hello, how are you?

Hello, okay, thank you very much and thank you for inviting me

What does the name of your band Oudeziel mean?

OUDEZIEL is Dutch for Old Soul. In a sense, transference is the concept of using previous experiences
to create something new.

You are a duo with Post-Rock sounds, how did your passion for these sounds come about?

It’s nothing special, we’ve been playing in different bands since high school, we also played different
music, and our musical taste slowly developed.

Your self-titled debut was released in July, how would you describe this work?

The EP was supposed to be an announcement, showing a cross-section of what we do and our directions. You know, a mini album has its own rules, not enough space for a concept album, more like a teaser.

There are two of you forming the lineup, how does the creative process of your music take place?

All compositions are created as harmony ideas, demos, they take shape and then we refine them
during rehearsals. We go back to the original arrangements and change them.

Sounds that combine the tradition of the genre with a touch of innovation, how do you see the future of your genre?

Many reviews say that everything in music is already known and discovered, and yet our music surprises. This is very nice because not only do we not focus on one genre (which is nothing innovative), but we look for ways to express music, sounds that best harmonize with harmony. That’s why sometimes in places where, according to the philosophy of prog rock, there should be a guitar solo, synth appears, or the drums give up in favor of the beat and machine from the 80s. You know, we think of this music as film music, compositions rather than songs, and this greatly expands the spectrum of possibilities.

Your music is intensad elaborate, will there be a chance to hear it live or is it just a studio project?

We invite our musician friends to play live, we also operate several instruments and it works very well.
From what listeners say, there is even more space. We also change the live versions a bit, some songs
are longer at the concert.

You have already made yourself known with the OBRASQi project, as these two will do teams are different?

OUDEZIEL creates instrumental music, hence more harmony arrangements in the instruments need to tell the story. OUDEZIEL’s music was very well received and it is possible that some guests from abroad will appear on the album, but only as guests. You know, I really like what Archive does, inviting different musicians to play particular songs so that they emphasize the nature of the music’s message.

Apart from music, do you have any other passion or artistic activity?

Jarek plays in several amateur theaters. They have had some very nice premieres.

What advice would you give to young artists approaching music in a more sophisticated way?

Yes, there are dilemmas as to whether the songs are too long or whether they are worth something, after all, there is a narrow circle of recipients of such music. Everything that is consistent with us, that comes from us, is valuable. And if something is your own, not reproductive, it will reach the listener. It was important to convey the emotions of the message, not just to fill the time.

Poland is emerging as one of the most interesting realities of contemporary music, as you do do you see the music scene in your country?

There is a lot of great music in Poland. There is also a division into popular pop music, which dominates the radio, and music from undergrand, niche genres. The funny thing is that pop music is very popular in the country, but abroad it gets lost in the multitude of productions. However, the more difficult music and bands such as Riverside, Behemot or Hania Rani certainly have greater popularity because people on all continents know it.

I would like to thank Oudeziel for the interview and wish them all the best continuation of an artistic career.

Best regards, thank you very much.
