Achachak is a Croatian band of Stoner Rock, with influences from various genres Psychedelia, Fuzz and Desert Rock. The new album “Planet Hashish” was released on March 12, 2022 and contains 9 medium length tracks, continuing the musical discourse undertaken over the years. The “Planet Hashish” opener opens with a scratchy guitar riff, a solid rhythm session and a vocal with energetic and dark traits. Their sound is an intertwining of well-constructed guitar riffs, deep bass lines, and backbone drumming. After the hypnotic and energetic opener, “Breathe” is another burst of Stoner power with scratchy guitars and a dirty and dynamic vocal. The solo inserts in the second part are interesting and the riffs are well constructed and engaging. “Celebration For The Desert” is one of the longest tracks on the album, with over 6 minutes of duration, as the title suggests, the sound is attributable to Desert Rock. Enveloping and hypnotic with dilated and hypnotic sounds that mix modern Psychedelic traits with those of the overseas Desert. The guitar textures that guide the song on deep and leading bass lines and a slowly moving drumming are interesting. Returning to heavier sounds “Orange Moon” with granite guitar riffs and a massive rhythm session, while the vocals are warm and dynamic. The instrumental section in the central part is interesting with a good guitar solo insert and the tempo changes and riffs that are always very engaging. Continuing on the more energetic sounds of the band “Weed Wagon” it presents retro-style riffs and a solid and tight rhythm, with the vocal at times dark and choral that best suits the song. the guitar works and the intertwining created by the band are interesting, a short but intense passage. “Shamans Horse” moves slowly creating a dark and enveloping atmosphere with heavy riffs and a disturbing vocal. Distorted guitars and a valuable use of effects and then in the final closing in crescendo with a frenetic acceleration. A blend of heavy riffs with a Stoner Rock signature “Desert Eye” is another powerful and engaging track that blends traditional sounds and the band’s personal touch. In the final the track close with a refined guitar solo. “The Hasheesh Eater” is characterized by heavy and granite riffs with an energetic vocal and a rhythm enriched by tempo changes with deep and carrying bass lines. The guitar textures both in the riffs and in the solo inserts are interesting, with dirty and engaging sounds. The album ends with the longer track “Fishermans F (r) iend” which opens with the sound of the sea and moves slowly with soft guitar riffs. The vocals are warm and expressive and the song shows the more delicate side of the band with a deep singing and dreamy and melancholic guitar interlacing. An interesting album for all lovers of modern Stoner and Psychedelic sounds with a heavier touch and a couple of softer tracks. The riffs are engaging and the songs well constructed with the right amount of vocal and instrumental parts with some valuable solo inserts. Interesting and well-developed ideas that enhance the ten-year experience of the band, certainly one of the best in the Slavic scene.
